Ajax Cape Town will battle for a place in the next round of the Nedbank Cup on Saturday afternoon when they face Kwadukuza United in a last 32 clash at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
Their opponents are an ABC Motsepe League side, based out of the North Coast in KwaZulu-Natal. They were formed when local businessman Sanele Zondi bought the franchise of Natal United and relocated them from Msinga to Kwadukuza.
United boast former PSL goalkeeper Mandla Tswenga, ex-AmaZulu striker Siyabonga Thwala and an experienced coach in the shape of Thami Ngubane, meaning they are not to be underestimated.
When they were still known as Natal United, the club famously knocked Chippa United out of the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup in 2015, defeating the Chilli Boys on penalties. They went on to lose to Golden Arrows in the next round.
With Ajax having exited last year’s Nedbank Cup in the first round after losing at home to fellow PSL side Free State Stars, coach Stanley Menzo will be targeting a much more sustained showing in the competition this time around.
