Ajax Cape Town’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge coach, Vladimir Heric, on Saturday lamented what proved to be costly errors as the Urban Warriors fell to a second successive defeat.
Samuel Julies completed his brace with five minutes remaining as Mamelodi Sundowns recorded a 3-2 win; to subsequently remain top of the log standings for another week.
Neo Makua and Tashreeq Morris found the back of the net as the Urban Warriors twice came from behind, but it was not to be as the Brazilians claimed all three points at the Tsakane Stadium.
“We played a good game, but there were still a lot of problems at the back, we don’t know how to pick players and the individual tactic grasp amongst my players is unacceptable,” said Heric in the aftermath.
“We can’t go back and learn these lessons which they [the players] should have learned a long time ago, but they tried their best compared to the last game which was a disastrous last 15 minutes of the game. At least today’s [Saturday] game we kept it in control for a bit longer, but it’s still not good enough to win the game and conceding three goals is unacceptable.”
“We are playing a lot of games away so it is difficult for us to travel from zero altitude to 1.8 [kilometers above sea level], so it’s affecting the player’s performance, maybe mentally they aren’t ready to play these matches, but we cannot complain regarding that because we came up several times and we won the games,” he concluded.
Ajax Cape Town next welcome Chippa United to Ikamva on Saturday 04 February 2017. Kick-off is at 10h00.
