Ajax Cape Town have received a boost with news that Toriq Losper is making good progress in recovering from the injury he sustained in October last year.
The 24-year-old picked up a meniscal injury to his left knee and hasn’t featured for the Urban Warriors since the 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City in the Absa Premiership, over five months ago.
Head of medical at Ajax Cape Town, Jantho Greyling, has confirmed that ‘Tokkie’ is making tremendous strides in recovering from the injury setback with the 24-year-old expected to return to First Team training next month.
“Toriq Losper is doing very well at the moment, he is sort of 75% there. He is seeing the specialist on the 22nd of March for his last follow-up and from there on we will probably be able to start going at 100%,” said Greyling.
“He is currently at about 75% at his speed that he is doing at the moment so doing some cone drills etc. He is outside already, jogging and running. But we will probably know by the 22nd if he will be able to go full tilt.
“My prediction is that he will probably start to faze back into First Team training from April onwards so that is where we sit with Toriq Losper at the moment,” Greyling concluded.
Ajax Cape Town return to action against Free State Stars in the Absa Premiership this Friday evening. Kick-off at Athlone Stadium is scheduled for 20h00.
