Ajax Cape Town head coach Stanley Menzo has highlighted the importance of the upcoming fixture against Free State Stars, with the Dutch tactician viewing every game as ‘crucial’ as the Urban Warriors aim to climb up the log standings.

Ea Lla Koto sit a mere three points behind Ajax Cape Town heading into Friday night’s match at Athlone Stadium with both teams eager to move clear of the relegation zone.

Having yet to win a game in the New Year, Menzo is under no illusion of what is at stake when his team take to the field later this evening…

“Every game is crucial, in football things can change,” said Menzo. “A few weeks ago people were talking about [finishing] in the top eight and no all of a sudden it is crucial – every game is crucial at this stage.

“If it is Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns – no matter who you play – it is crucial because every game can give you points, every game can give you confidence. Sometimes you lose confidence or build confidence because of a specific result so every game is important at this moment.

“Crucial, because we play a team in our own area – but then again every game is crucial for me and I hope the team views it that way,” Menzo concluded.

Nathan Paulse, Rivaldo Coetzee, Mosa Lebusa and Grant Margeman are all set to feature for the Urban Warriors with the latter having returned from national U20 duty earlier this week.

Menzo, though, confirmed Ndiviwe Mdabuka and Tashreeq Morris will miss the encounter.
