Having officially completed his return to Ajax Cape Town this week, albeit only on a deal till the end of the 2016-17 Premier Soccer League season, head coach Stanley Menzo was visible excited by the signing of Sameehg Doutie.
The 27-year-old returns to Ikamva following spells at Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits and Atlético de Kolkata.
Doutie rose through the Ajax Cape Town ranks, having initially joined the club as a 9-year-old. As a result, the talented winger has the club’s philosophy embedded in his style of play – a quality Menzo appreciates.
“I think he is a good player, a typical Ajax player, Ajax winger – he knows the system, he knows the club,” Menzo told ajaxct.co.za. “He has a lot of quality, I think it is a very good signing.
“Also again, it is some recognition for the fans, he is a real Ajax player, he was here in the academy so it is up to him now to showcase those qualities.
“I think with Doutie, he is more a ‘fine’ attacking player; great in playing between the lines, giving through balls, through passes. He has a good cross, good at set-pieces. He can read the game and that is important, especially up front,” Menzo concluded.
Doutie came on as a second-half substitute for the Urban Warriors in a 2-0 win over Cape Town All Stars at Parow Park on Saturday.
