Ajax Cape Town will be without fullback Rheece Evans for the club’s Absa Premiership clash against Highlands Park on Wednesday evening, but defensive partner ,Rivaldo Coetzee, looks set to make his return.
Evans is still nursing a groin injury, picked up in the clash against Free State Stars last month while Coetzee has battled his way back from a knock to the shoulder – he trained with the side at Cape Town Stadium this morning.
Moreover, the Urban Warriors are still without 18-year-old Grant Margeman, who also missed the 2-1 defeat to Maritzburg United due to suspension. He will, though, be available once more for the trip to Golden Arrows at the weekend.
“Grant Margeman is definitely out due to suspension following the red card he got against Free State Stars,” said head coach Stanley Menzo on Tuesday. “Rheece Evans is still not 100 per cent so he won’t play tomorrow, Tashreeq Morris is also not ready to play.
“The rest are fit to start, we just have a slight concern regarding Rivaldo and we hope he is fit enough to start, we will see.
“Evans, he picked up a groin problem against Free State Stars, but then came the match against Maritzburg United, but that was too early for a return and as we have gone on he has kept experiencing problems.
“There is something that has to be solved, but we hope this week he will return to training and we will have him for our next match.
“Rivaldo came back fine after the international break, but in the final training before we left for Maritzburg he had pain in his shoulder so we decided against taking him with. We need players that are 100 per cent fit, so we rather let him heal fully,” Menzo concluded.
