Ajax Cape Town forward Prince Nxumalo voiced his disappointment following the Cape side’s surprise defeat to KwaDukuza United in the Nedbank Cup this past Saturday.
The Urban Warriors exited the tournament following a 4-3 penalty shoot-out defeat to the ‘Black Jaguars’ – who ply their trade in the ABC Motsepe League; South Africa’s third tier.
Neo Makua and Nxumalo found the back of the net for the visitors at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium as the game ended 2-2 after 120 minutes of football. KwaDukuza United duly came up trumps from the penalty spot.
“I’d say we didn’t expect to lose and we feel embarrassed,” Nxumalo told KickOff.com in the aftermath.
“Yes, I scored, but it’s bittersweet because the team lost but I think scoring today [Saturday] will also help me going forward and also into the next game.”
“These KwaDukuza boys played well and they were up for the fight,” Nxumalo concluded.
Next up for the Urban Warriors is an important Absa Premiership clash against Free State Stars at Athlone Stadium this Friday evening. Kick-off is at 20h00.
