Today marks one week until Ajax Cape Town return to PSL action with an Absa Premiership clash away to Bidvest Wits.
The Urban Warriors, as well as the rest of South Africa’s top flight, have been on a mid-season break encompassing the festive season and the ongoing 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
Ajax’s first official match of 2017 will see them tackle Bidvest Wits in Johannesburg on February 7. It will be the teams’ second league clash of the season, with the Clever Boys having claimed a 2-1 win in Cape Town back in October.
Stanley Menzo’s side enjoyed a great end to 2016 by claiming five wins from their final six league matches of the year, greatly boosting their hopes of a top eight finish.
A win over title-chasing Wits would not only maintain their form and set the tone for the second half of the season, but announce Ajax as a team that even the heavyweights of the league must be wary of.
