Ajax beat Stars

The Urban Warriors promised an improved performance ahead of this game and true to their word they delivered. Goals by Lance Davids and Thulani Serero sealed the three points on offer for Ajax Cape Town
The offensive approach by the home team was apparent from the first whistle when Nathan Paulse got to the Stars by-line in the first minute and whipped in a cross that had the visitors defence at sixes and sevens before the Stars keeper cleared the danger.
Ajax played attacking football by getting numbers into the opposition box and this game plan paid off. The first goal was scored in the 35th minute when a Lance Davids free-kick deflected off the Stars wall into the net.
Nathan Paulse was a constant threat to the visitors defence and he almost put his name on the score-sheet but his volley from close range flew wide.
The second half saw the teams playing attacking football much to the delight of the fans, but both sets of defence held firm.
Ajax increased the tempo of play and the goal-mouth action kept the fans on their toes. Diyo Sibisi’s effort on goal was blocked and Vonk denied Stars with some fine goalkeeping.
Dillon Sheppard and Mabizela came close for Stars. Vonk saved Sheppard’s effort and Mabizela’s header hit the cross-bar.
Vonk then plucked the ball from Grobler, making a point-blank save. The Urban Warriors continued to attack on the counter and Maluleke linked up with Paulse to make ground down the Stars left side.
Paulse passed to Serero in the six-yard box and the young South African international scored with an acrobatic shot that assured the Urban Warriors three points on the night.

Well done, guys!
