Ajax Cape Town are more than two thirds of the way through their 2016/17 season and the man leading the race to be the club’s top goal scorer is striker Nathan Paulse.
The 34-year-old has netted five times (all in the Absa Premiership) to be the Urban Warriors’ main goal-getter this term. He scored in each of the club’s opening three matches of the season and has chipped in with a further two since, his most recent arriving in a 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs last month.
Hot on his heels is Prince Nxumalo (last season’s top scorer with 13 goals), who has netted three times in the league and once in the Nedbank Cup for a total of four goals.
Strikers cannot do all the scoring work, which is why Ajax will be pleased that five midfielders – Grant Margeman, Mark Mayambela, Ndiviwe Mdabuka, Thabo Mosadi and Bantu Mzwakali – have each contributed two goals apiece.
In addition, defender Eric Chipeta and youngster Neo Makua have scored once each in the league and Nedbank Cup respectively, while one own-goal in the club’s favour arrived in their 3-2 win over Platinum Stars back in November.
