Masilakhe Phohlongo, also fondly referred to as ‘Scara’, has the world at his feet.
We caught up with the talented left footed midfielder to talk about the upcoming 2017 Bayhill Metropolitan Premier Cup, that is set to take place from the 12th-17th of April, Easter Weekend.
Phohlongo represented the Urban Warriors at the famous MPC tournament on no fewer than three occasions, claiming the title on one single occasion – having suffered defeat to SuperSport United in last years final.
“I have many fond memories of playing in the Bayhill Tournament,” said Scara.
“It was a great learning curve as I came up against top players from the same age group as me, players with the same ambitions – these are moments I will always cherish.
“Playing in the MPC, it is a huge platform to showcase your talent and it also gives a chance to the First Team head coach to have a look at you,” he added.
Phohlongo has risen through the youth structures at the club, going on to play for the First Team.
‘Scara’ was also part of the South Africa U20 training squad, but missed out in the final team that headed to Zambia for the Africa Cup of Nations last month.
He, though, will be hopeful of making the World Cup squad – as he set his sights on more First Team action under Stanley Menzo’s watchful eye.
