KwaDukuza United head coach Thami Ngubane has fired a warning shot in the direction of Ajax Cape Town, with the two teams set to do battle at the Suger Ray Xulu Stadium this coming Saturday.
The KwaZulu-Natal ABC Motsepe League outfit, who are nicknamed the ‘ BlackJaguars’, have their eyes firmly set on a Nedbank Cup Round of 32 upset.
Having bought their status from Natal United six months ago, the side boasts some ‘giant killing’ pedigree despite still being in its infancy. Natal United beat Absa Premiership side Chippa United at the same stage two years ago.
Talking to the media at a joint press conference in Durban on Wednesday, the former Thanda Royal Zulu, African Warriors and Royal Eagles mentor stated that he believes his team has what it takes to cause a major upset this weekend.
“We have the players that can rise to the occasion against Ajax,” said Ngubane. “We want to give players an opportunity to showcase their talent.”
“We have prepared very well for Ajax Cape Town. They are favorites but we can surprise them.
“This is a big stage for these players, but we have a couple of experienced players. Ajax are not doing well, we must take advantage,” a confident Ngubane concluded.
The Urban Warriors will travel to Durban on Friday, with the match set to get underway at 15h00 on Saturday afternoon.
