Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper Jody February shared his delight in keeping a first clean sheet of 2017 following the goalless draw vs SuperSport United in Atteridgeville this past weekend.
The Urban Warriors shot-stopper was named man-of-the-match for his eye-catching performance between the sticks.
The 20-year-old did particularly well to deny Mandla Masango from point-blank range in the first-half. February also made sure of a point for the visitors, with a 90th minute save to deny Thabo Mnyamane.
“It was a big effort from the boys today [Saturday], I think this man-of-the-match award goes out the entire team – not just me – I did my job; keeping the ball out, and I am happy we got a point away,” February said in the aftermath.
“We had a couple of half chances and I think we could of ‘smash and grabbed’ the three points.
“Our defence was solid, our organisation was good, we had lapses of concentration, but luckily they didn’t punish for that. Happy with my first clean sheet of 2017,” February concluded.
Ajax Cape Town now switch focus to the Nedbank Cup with a Round of 32 clash against KwaDukuza United next on the agenda.
