his week we caught up with Ajax Cape Town super fan, Rowena Jantjes, in our ‘From the Fans’ segment; a weekly feature where we talk to those who get behind the Urban Warriors.

‘Row’ is a 42-year-old Ajax Cape die-hard, who lives in Walmer Estate, Woodstock. She has been an Ajax Cape Town fans since 2000, but was honest in admitting that at first she was a couch supporter! – something that quickly changed.

Her favourite current first team player is Thabo Mosadi with George Maluleka and Thulani Serero going down as her favourite former Ajax Cape Town stars.

The 2016-17 season has been a roller-coaster of emotions for the Urban Warriors, how would you sum it up?

The beginning of the season we struggled a lot as there was no game plan and the team seemed as if they just couldn’t ‘gel’.We started getting our winning ways which was great but then came the long mid season break and it seems that just brought a break in the players momentum as we struggling to win again.

I feel this season our players are really lacking confidence and inconsistency is also a problem.

Who do you think has been the standout player at the club this season and why?

Thabo Mosadi and Grant Margeman have been outstanding for me since day one.I simply love how they play forward and an attacking game.

How long have you supported Ajax Cape Town and why did you opt to support the Urban Warriors?

Since 2000 my family love Ajax and always listening to them talking about Ajax brought on the interest to watch this home team.I immediately fell in love with this team after watching my first game on TV….

What message do you have for coach Stanley Menzo?

Coach, I simply love the fact that you are consistent from what is expected of the players and that you brought back some great football as our team is playing some good football these days.Keep on doing what you’re doing and I know we’ll get our winning streak back.

What message of support do you have for the boys ahead of our next match vs Maritzburg United?

They must just go out there as a team, communicate with each other, play for the badge on their hearts.

Most of all, go out on that field Saturday do what you guys know best and love and just enjoy every minute on that field!
