Former Ajax Cape Town coach Roger de Sa has resigned from Maritzburg United after just three months on the job.

De Sa, who coached Ajax from 2014 to 2016 and was Stanley Menzo’s predecessor, has cited family commitments in Cape Town as the reason for his departure.

The ex-Urban Warriors coach took over the Team of Choice in January, replacing Ernst Middendorp as permanent manager.

“The coach informed me that he had to go back to Cape Town to attend to family commitments, and I had to respect that,” Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia said on the club’s official website.

“He was with us for only three months, but I thank him for the time he spent here and I wish him well for the future. Fadlu [Davids, assistant coach] will take over the reins supported by the existing technical team until the end of the season,” he concluded.
