Maritzburg United interim coach Fadlu Davids is geared for what he predicts to be a tough clash against Ajax Cape Town, set to take place at the Harry Gwala Stadium this Saturday.

Kick-off is at 20h15.

A mere point separates the Team of Choice and the Urban Warriors, with the two teams lingering at the wrong end of the Absa Premiership log standings following 21 rounds of fixtures.

Davids, who stepped into the position following Roger De Sa’s departure, has again been forced into the spotlight – having successfully done so after Ernst Middendorp vacated the same position in November last year.

“It obviously came as a shock when Roger resigned, so the first thing to do, was to get the players to focus on football, focus on the positives and the tactical aspects of the game that we are working on,” Davids told Martizburg United’s official website.

Davids is eager for his side to build some winning momentum, as they themselves set their sights on a top eight finish. The Urban Warriors, though, will be equally geared for the clash…

“The last game we played at home was against Free State Stars and we won,” Davids added.

“We have to take that mentality into the Ajax game, that we are playing at home, we have to win it for our fans. It’s going to be a tough game as Ajax will also be coming for three points, as we are in a similar situation on the log,” he concluded.
