We take a closer look at Ajax Cape Town’s home form in the Absa Premiership this season, which has seen the Urban Warriors pick up 12 points from a possible 33.

Ajax’s poor start to the season saw them suffer four defeats from their first five home games, but they soon put that record straight with three successive wins over Mamelodi Sundowns, Golden Arrows and Chippa United leading into the festive season break.

In 2017 the Urban Warriors have been unable to enjoy similar success, losing their first home match 2-0 against local rivals Cape Town City, before playing to draws against Kaizer Chiefs and Free State Stars.

Stanley Menzo’s side will be looking to return to winning form (overall, not just in home matches) when they host Highlands Park next week Wednesday.

Overall, Ajax have recorded three wins, three draws and five defeats from 11 matches as hosts this season, with 11 goals for and 14 against.

This is not the worst home record in the Absa Premiership this season, with Baroka (seven points from 12 matches), Bloemfontein Celtic (nine points from 11 matches) and Platinum Stars (11 points from as many matches) picking up less points as hosts.

Ajax will look to win all of their remaining home matches (Highlands Park – April 12; Platinum Stars – April 30; Bloemfontein Celtic – May 13; and Baroka FC – May 27), which would almost certainly ensure they avoid relegation.
