Ajax Cape Town on Thursday (02 March), re-opened Field B, with the new pitch used for the first time this season.
The Urban Warriors ground staff had been hard at work in preparing the pitch and after the lines were painted on Wednesday ,by KK and his team, the First Team had the honour of practicing on the brand new field for the very first time.
“First, I think the guys did a really good job because we know what it looked like, but it looks fine now and we have to keep it like that,” said Ajax Cape Town head coach Stanley Menzo soon after the first practice session on the new field.
“We are very glad to have this field, the other field was not bad, but it was smaller. The B Field is a little bit wider, not the size we normally come up against in the stadium, but it is a little bit wider and longer which is important to us.
“If we train on a field that is smaller and on the weekend you play on a field that is bigger, the distances will be strange for you. That is why it is important to train on a bigger field and the surface is good,” Menzo concluded.
Ajax Cape Town travel to the South African capital on Friday afternoon, to take on SuperSport United in Atteridgeville.
Kick-off at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday evening is scheduled for 20h15 CAT.
