Following a heavy defeat to Bidvest Wits in midweek, Ajax Cape Town will be even more determined when they face Cape Town City in an Absa Premiership derby this weekend.
The Urban Warriors and the Citizens have met once already this season, facing off at the Cape Town Stadium (the same venue they will share this weekend) on September 23, 2016.
The match was an end-to-end affair, with both teams displaying some fine attacking football.
The Citizens claimed the lead in the 20th minute through Bhongolwethu Jayiya, who beat Brandon Petersen with a well-taken shot after good work from Thato Mokeke and Judas Moseamedi to set him up.
Ajax responded well to going behind and thought they had equalised through Toriq Losper, though his effort was ruled out for a foul in the build-up to his finish, while Nathan Paulse also missed out on a glorious chance to equalise.
CTC nearly doubled their lead 15 minutes into the second half when Aubrey Ngoma hit the post, but after that it was Ajax who dominated the match and they were unlucky not to claim a goal late on when Eric Chipeta missed from a point-blank header.
