Ajax look to inflict a third straight loss on Maritzburg

Maritzburg United will look to avoid a third straight defeat in the Absa Premiership when they host Ajax Cape Town at Harry Gwala Stadium on 1 April 2017, kick-off at 20h15.

Maritzburg suffered a second successive loss when they were beaten 1-0 at Highlands Park on March 19.

The KwaZulu-Natal side has claimed 11 points from 10 home matches this season.

The Team of Choice is placed 10th on the Absa Premiership log with 23 points from 21 matches.

Ajax played to a fourth successive draw in the league when they were held 2-2 at home by Free State Stars on March 17.

The Cape Town side has claimed 10 points from as many away matches this season.

The Urban Warriors are placed 12th on the Absa Premiership log with 22 points from 21 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Ajax and Maritzburg have met in 21 league matches since 2005/06.

The Team of Choice has claimed eight victories compared to seven for the Urban Warriors, while six matches have been drawn.

Maritzburg have won seven of their 10 home league matches against Ajax, suffering two defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, the Team of Choice claimed a 2-1 away win in Cape Town.

Maritzburg’s victory back in November was their first away league win against Ajax.
