Following the Easter weekend, which saw Ajax Cape Town playing to a valuable 1-1 draw away to Golden Arrows, the team will spend the next preparing for a showdown with Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Urban Warriors will not be in action in the midweek Absa Premiership fixtures, nor the weekend’s Nedbank Cup quarterfinals, giving coach Syanley Mezo a full week to prepare his team for the challenge of facing Sundowns.

Ajax will battle the defending league champions at Loftus Versfeld Stadium next Tuesday, April 25.

While facing Pitso Mosimane’s side always represents a tough challenge, Ajax will head to Tshwane with a high degree of confidence.

Not only did they defeat the Brazilians earlier in the season (a 2-0 home win in Cape Town back in November last year), but they have also picked up four points from the last six up for grabs.

The weekend’s draw at Arrows was preceded by a 1-0 triumph over Highlands Park. Ajax have not totally eased their relegation fears, but the situation looks much brighter for the Cape Town team – enough to claim that a top eight finish is not beyond their reach.
