With an international window coming up, Ajax Cape Town have already completed all the matches they will play in March 2017. We take a look back at the month’s work for the Urban Warriors.

Stanley Menzo’s side had their first assignment for March on the fourth: an away match in the Absa Premiership against SuperSport United. The encounter at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Tshwane ended in a goalless draw, with Ajax able to match Stuart Baxter’s title hopefuls pound for pound.

Next up was a clash against lower league KwaZulu-Natal side KwaDukuza United in the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup. Sadly Ajax became the first major casualty of an upset in a competition notorious for giant-killings. Menzo’s side drew 2-2 after extra time at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont, before going down 4-3 on penalties.

Ajax wrapped up their work for the month this past Friday night when they hosted Free State Stars at Athlone Stadium for an Absa Premiership clash. The Cape side looked on course for their first outright win of the season when they led 2-1 through goals from Mark Mayambela and Rodrick Kabwe, but they allowed Mohammed Anas to score a second goal and secure a share of the spoils.
